| Tri-County Youth Council

The mission of the Tri-County Youth Council is "to facilitate or ensure youth services in the community through strategic leadership collaboration and public-private partnerships." The Tri-County Youth Council also provides opportunities for employment, training and education to promote successful outcomes for youth. The council's vision is to "create a pathway to economic success for Jefferson, Gilpin and Clear Creek County's youth through the influence of policy and practice."
The purpose of the Tri-County Youth Council is to assist the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board
- Developing and recommending local youth employment and training policy and practice;
- Broadening the youth employment and training focus in the community to incorporate a youth development prospective;
- Taking into account a range of issues that can have an impact on the success of youth in the labor market.
The formal duties of Youth Council members include:
- Assisting in the development of the local WIA (Workforce Investment Act) Youth plan;
- Recommending local youth providers;
- Coordinating youth activities in the local area;
- And other duties deemed to be appropriate by the chairperson of the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board.
All actions and plans are recommended to the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board and/or the Executive committee of the board for approval.
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) designates membership requirements. Membership must include:
- Educators, employers, representatives from human service agencies with youth interest and expertise in policy making;
- Parents of eligible Workforce Investment Act (WIA) youth;
- Juvenile justice or local law enforcement;
- Youth program participants Job Corps;
- Tri-County Workforce Investment Board member;
- Local public housing representative.
