Tri-County Youth Council Logo

The mission of the Tri-County Youth Council is "to help youth with today's employment needs and career development for the future." The council's vision is to create a pathway to economic success for Jefferson, Gilpin and Clear Creek County's youth through the influence of policy and practice.

  • Developing and recommending local youth employment and training policy and practice
  • Broadening the youth employment and training focus in the community to incorporate a youth development prospective
  • Taking into account a range of issues that can have an impact on the success of youth in the labor market

The formal duties of Youth Council members include:

  • Reviewing the local WIA (Workforce Investment Act) Youth annual plan
  • Recommending local youth providers
  • Coordinating youth activities in the local area
  • Other duties deemed to be appropriate by the chairperson of the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board

The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) designates membership requirements. Membership must include:

  • Eligible youth
  • Representative of youth service agencies (including juvenile justice and law enforcement agencies)
  • Representatives of local public housing authorities
  • Parents of eligible youth seeking assistance (age 14-21)
  • Individuals, inluding former participants, and representatives of organizations, who have expertise relating to youth activities
  • Representatives from Job Corps
  • Representatives from the business community
  • Other individuals with special interest or expertise in youth policy may join the council as adjunct members
