| Tri-County Youth Council

The mission of the Tri-County Youth Council is "to help youth with today's employment needs and career development for the future." The council's vision is to create a pathway to economic success for Jefferson, Gilpin and Clear Creek County's youth through the influence of policy and practice.
- Developing and recommending local youth employment and training policy and practice
- Broadening the youth employment and training focus in the community to incorporate a youth development prospective
- Taking into account a range of issues that can have an impact on the success of youth in the labor market
The formal duties of Youth Council members include:
- Reviewing the local WIA (Workforce Investment Act) Youth annual plan
- Recommending local youth providers
- Coordinating youth activities in the local area
- Other duties deemed to be appropriate by the chairperson of the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board
The Workforce Investment Act (WIA) designates membership requirements. Membership must include:
- Eligible youth
- Representative of youth service agencies (including juvenile justice and law enforcement agencies)
- Representatives of local public housing authorities
- Parents of eligible youth seeking assistance (age 14-21)
- Individuals, inluding former participants, and representatives of organizations, who have expertise relating to youth activities
- Representatives from Job Corps
- Representatives from the business community
- Other individuals with special interest or expertise in youth policy may join the council as adjunct members
