How do I pay for school or training opportunities?
Financial aid is money from the state, federal government, or college provided to the student to assist him or her in paying the cost of education after high school. If you need help paying for college, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon after January 1st as possible for the next fall or spring semester.

Types of funding. Workforce Investment Act, scholarships, grants, loans, and
work-study programs for undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral students. |

Sources. Federal, state, and local governments; private agencies; foundations; and service organizations such as fraternities and sororities. |

Aid for specific groups of recipients. Racially/ethnically diverse, those with disabilities, mature returning students, and gender specific. |

Looking for financial aid can be a maze, full of mine fields and traps! Scholarships, Federal Student Loans, Scholarship and Grants - how do you decide what to pursue? Visit our offices to find out information about the following financial aid opportunities.
1. Find scholarships.

Scholarships are unquestionably the best source of financing, they are money you don't have to pay back. |

The Internet provides access to all kinds of information and services; some are worth paying for, some are free. |
2. Get federal student loans.

Federal student loans have low interest rates and are guaranteed by the government |

Students should complete a FAFSA first. |

Students should then apply for the Federal Stafford Loan. |

Parents and family members should apply for the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS Loan) - note that you do not have to be a parent, just a family member with good credit! |
3. Get private student loans.

Private student loans are the best option for students, parents, and families who do not qualify for federal financial aid or when federal financial aid isn't enough to meet education expenses. |
