How Do I Earn a GED Certificate?

The General Educational Development Certificate (GED) offers individuals who did not finish high school the opportunity to earn high school credentials. More than 800,000 adults take GED tests each year. Over 90 percent of U.S. employers and colleges accept the GED in place of a traditional diploma. The GED requires a student to complete a battery of five tests:

  • Language Arts/Writing and an Essay
  • Language Arts/ Reading
  • Math - two parts
  • Social Studies
  • Science
